This year marks a monumental date in the art world calendar. Fifty years ago, in April 1973, Picasso died at his home Notre-Dame-de-Vie in Mougins, France. To celebrate the anniversary, his eponymous museum has enlisted the British designer Sir Paul Smith, known for sharp tailoring in jazzy colors, to curate a selection of the collection’s masterpieces. It’s a bold pairing. Works by Guillermo Kuitca, Mickalene Thomas, Obi Okigbo, and Cheri Samba round out the show. —Elena Clavarino
