Pam Tanowitz is one of the hottest choreographers out there right now. And it’s nice that such a breakthrough has come to a woman with a body of work, not some youngling who is heaped with expectations he can’t handle. Tanowitz is brainy and her dances can feel like semiotic examinations of choreographic history. The Old Testament’s “Song of Songs”—lyric, passionate, sexual—is the inspiration for this collaboration between Tanowitz and the composer David Lang. —Laura Jacobs
