When Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge first opened its doors in 1966, artists Paul Dash, Errol Lloyd, and John Lyons were 20, 23, and 33, respectively, and just starting their careers in the U.K. All three were immigrants from the Caribbean—Dash from Barbados, Lloyd from Jamaica, and Lyons from Trinidad and Tobago. In different ways, their work still holds the vibrancy and rhythm of their tropical childhoods. In this exhibition, their work is shown in dialogue with each other and with selections from the museum’s collection. The theme is “carnival,” and among the other artists on display are Albrecht Dürer, Helen Frankenthaler, and Barbara Hepworth. —Elena Clavarino
