Frieze, Basel, and Armory have become synonymous with money, money, and money. Joking aside, it is undeniable that the world’s major art fairs are hubs for prominent galleries showing pieces by well-known artists to influencers attempting to prove their interest in culture. Such frenzy does not take place at the Outsider Art Fair. Since its inception in 1993, it has celebrated self-taught, folk, and fringe artists. Originally New York-based, the fair also ran in Paris for 10 years, from 2013 to 2022. “We plan on delivering the magic our fans have come to expect,” says the curator Andrew Edlin about the upcoming show. “Mix into the brew the canonical names that our hardcore veteran dealers always show up with, and the result is a fair unlike any other.” For three days, OAF will showcase 63 exhibitors—nine of whom are displaying their work for the first time—and two presentations created for OAF’s yearly “Curated Spaces.” —Jeanne Malle
