Most of Act Two of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde is consumed by the adulterous couple’s oceanic love duet. Yet King Marke, who discovers them in flagrante, has been known to blow them totally out of the water with his devastating lament. Christine Goerke and Stephen Gould sing the lovers. Günther Groissböck is the cuckolded monarch. Gianandrea Noseda conducts. —M.G.
