Nine different programs make up New York City Ballet’s spring season at Lincoln Center. Four are devoted to the Stravinsky wing of the repertory, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of 1972’s legendary Stravinsky Festival. Standout among these are program III, which presents the seminal Greek trilogy that Balanchine choreographed to Stravinsky—Apollo, Orpheus, and Agon (May 10, 11, 14, and 15)—and program IV, which includes a ballet that Balanchine first choreographed in 1937, Le Baiser de la Fée, then redid over and over again until in 1972 he finally got it right (with key tweaks in 1974), retitling it Divertimento from “Le Baiser de la Fée.” It’s Balanchine’s personal and poignant version of Hans Christian Andersen’s folk tale The Ice Maiden, and it appears on May 12, 13, and 14. The season ends with 10 performances of Balanchine’s incomparable A Midsummer Night’s Dream. —Laura Jacobs
