The tales of women artists in centuries past are still vague or lost, but in the 20th century many pioneering women emerged. This exhibition focuses on photography and is divided into six themed sections. Highlights include Carrie Mae Weems’s “Kitchen Table” series, in which she photographed herself and her family in black and white, always at the same table under the same pallid light—variations on the theme of home life. Another highlight is a print by Sandy Skoglund that shows goldfish floating in a blue-green bedroom. Titled Revenge of the Goldfish, it provided inspiration for a 1992 album of the same name by the band Inspiral Carpets. Barbara Kruger’s provocative texts will be plastered on walls and floors around the space. The exhibition contains more than 100 images by women artists. —Elena Clavarino
