What is collective memory? And how does it intersect with individual experience or recollection? Twenty-two artists from Africa and its diaspora address these questions in “Memoria: Tales of Another History.” The traveling exhibition, which has made stops in France and Côte d’Ivoire, now lands in Madagascar’s capital, Antananarivo. Combining sculpture, painting, textiles, video, and live performances, the show unveils new stories and images from the continent. The aim is to disrupt false narratives and to celebrate the power of collaboration—which can be far greater than the sum of its parts. —Clara Molot
