Louise Bourgeois: Drawings, 1947–2007

Streaming on Hauser & Wirth

“Drawings are thought feathers,” said the French-American artist Louise Bourgeois, “they are ideas that I seize in mid-flight and put down on paper.” Bourgeois, who lived from 1911 to 2010, is today one of the most exhibited artists in the world. Renowned as a sculptor, she also did drawings throughout her life, early on creating templates for her parents’ tapestry business, and eventually addressing her anxieties, unearthing her feelings, with ink, watercolor, and pencil. Here, Hauser & Wirth has compiled a selection of drawings from Bourgeois’s seven-decade career. —L.J.
