Live at Wembley Park Theatre

Wembley Park Theatre.

May 5, 2023

It’s hard to be funny. But these days, thanks to a booming business of comedy tours and Netflix specials, those who have the gift are increasingly sharing it. As is the case with a new bimonthly comedy series at Wembley Park Theatre in North West London. Featuring a mix of well-known names from British sketch and panel shows, alongside newly discovered voices, each evening will see a diverse lineup of five comedians offering a pithy take on life, culture, politics, and more. The first installment on May 5 includes Sindhu Vee, a banker turned standup who most-recently starred as Mrs. Phelps in the 2022 Netflix adaptation of Matilda the Musical; Bridget Christie, a playful, intelligent, and unapologetic comedian and author who regularly sells out at large London venues; Sophie Duker, a panel show regular and newly minted winner of Channel 4’s challenge-based reality show, Taskmaster; Daniel Foxx, a relative newcomer who’s built a heady following through social media; and Mark Silcox, a screwball comedian and actor who has been performing steadily since 2008. —Bridget Arsenault
