If it was hard to imagine a film adaptation of Yann Martel’s arresting Booker Prize-winning novel Life of Pi, a play might seem unfathomable. This new adaptation, featuring sleek puppetry and state-of-the-art visuals, is transferring from Sheffield, U.K., to London’s West End. A story of hope and perseverance, relative newcomer Hiran Abeysekera precisely captures the shipwrecked teenager, lost at sea with only a tiger named Richard Parker and three religions to keep him company. —B.A.
