A national service agency, Mobilier National is responsible for furniture owned by the French state and used in official buildings, a job it’s been doing since the Ancien Régime. “Le Chic!” explores the stylistic evolution of French decorative arts and furniture between 1930 and 1960, particularly fertile decades in French design. Almost 200 works from the agency’s collections are on view, including ceremonial pieces, precious objects, and the refined furniture we associate with style moderne. —Clara Molot
