As the artist and theorist César Augusto Martínez once explained, “The Chicano Movement was a renaissance in thinking about us and in creating those institutions and images and writings that reflected who we are.” This slideshow exhibition from the Museum of Fine Arts Houston presents a sampling of works by Latino-American artists, including a seminal portrait from Martínez’s “Batos” series. The exhibition celebrates the powerful role that Latino-American artists and their work have played in reshaping the art-world establishment. —C.J.F.
