Lari Pittman: Found Buried

Mar 5 – Aug 28, 2020
501 W 24th Street New York, NY 10011

Lari Pittman is inspired by advertisements, abstraction, surrealism, Victorian silhouettes, and Social Realist murals. He thinks color is political and says of his paintings—cacophonous crazy quilts that bind ugliness to beauty, chaos to calm—want to offer a painting that somehow the viewer has to stand in front of it and almost not believe it.” This solo exhibition, his first with the gallery, offers a new series of paintings and works on paper. —E.C.
