King Lear

Feb 23 – Mar 26, 2023
450 7th St NW, Washington, DC 20004

Best-known for his roles in Hadestown and The Gilded Age, Patrick Page is the latest actor to take on the role of King Lear. William Shakespeare’s tragedy, first performed in 1606, sees the aging King of the Britons, self-involved and controlling, dividing his kingdom between two power-hungry daughters who despise him, while banishing a third daughter, the youngest, who loves him. Lear is one of the most coveted roles in the English language; the role of the third daughter, Cordelia, is coveted, too, and here she is performed by Lily Santiago.
