Created by Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon (Carly’s older sister), the musical The Secret Garden is based on the 19th-century novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It premiered on Broadway in 1991, with a dream cast that included Rebecca Luker and Mandy Patinkin. Richly inventive staging, and songs both winning and moving, made it perhaps the most beautiful musical to emerge in recent decades. This new production is much anticipated, and now we have a chance to see it developing. Tickets are a reasonable $10. —L.J.
