In 2014, following a decade of self-imposed silence punctuated by various attempts to reinvent herself, Monica Lewinsky wrote in Vanity Fair that it was time to “burn the beret and bury the blue dress.” Now, Beanie Feldstein is bringing both back in her starring role as Lewinsky in Ryan Murphy’s latest American Crime Story series, 10 episodes titled Impeachment. Feldstein and Lewinsky are both producers on the show, which also stars a barely recognizable Clive Owen as Bill Clinton and Sarah Paulson, decked out in a headline-generating fat suit, as Linda Tripp. If you’ve lived through the Lewinsky scandal or listened to the excellent Slow Burn podcast series on the subject, Impeachment adds little that’s new. But it’s worth a watch for the telling details—from Billy Eichner’s uncanny take on the Drudge Report’s Matt Drudge, to a young Brett Kavanaugh’s remarks at a meeting with Ken Starr: “I never like to take no for an answer.” —J.V.
