Hippolyte Hentgen is not one person but two—Lina Hentgen and Gäelle Hippolyte, an artistic duo who over 20 years have “developed into a four-handed collaboration.” The title of their latest exhibition, “The Invisible Bikini,” is meant to be vague, combining echoes of a whodunnit with 1960s nudity at the beach. The show—made up of limbs grotesque in their size yet refined in their intricate detailing—proposes loud, exaggerated, and fantastical clashes between concepts and universes: comics, pop culture, Mickey Mouse, stereotypes, the French Riviera. —J.V.
