Helmut Lang

Sept 14 – Nov 2, 2019
3330 Cady's Alley NW, Washington, DC 20007, United States

The minimalist Austrian designer Helmut Lang defined the lean look of androgynous anti-fashion in the 90s. In 2004, he left fashion to devote himself to art—sculpture, wall pieces, video, and installations. In his first D.C. exhibition, Lang is showing over 50 columnar structures in which found objects that have been crushed, and, additionally, fibrous material from his destroyed design archives, are suspended in pigmented resin to suggest mortal coils in states of metamorphosis. —L.J.
