In the art of Haegue Yang, mundane household objects are transformed into meticulously executed sculptures and immersive installations. Sound, light, air, and fragrance are also part of the Yang experience, adding emotional and cultural dimension. For this exhibition, Yang created a series of collages out of hanji, a Korean paper which comes from the inner bark of the mulberry tree. Yang hangs these sheets from the gallery’s ceiling, a reference to Korean shamanistic traditions. Alongside 19 of her “Mesmerising Mesh” pieces, there are also large sculptures made with bells, paper, and Venetian blinds. —Elena Clavarino
