Guido Guidi in Sardegna: 1974, 2011

June 21 – Oct 20, 2019
Via Sebastiano Satta, 27, 08100 Nuoro NU, Italy

“Sardinia is out of time and history,” wrote D.H. Lawrence in his 1921 book, Sea and Sardinia. Change, though subtle, has since reached this island off of Italy’s west coast. In the first major exhibition to honor the work of Italian photographer Guido Guidi, 250 of his photographs of Sardinia—some taken in 1974, the others taken nearly four decades later, in 2011—delicately mark the passage of time. Only about an hour and a half drive from ritzy Porto Cervo, “Guido Guidi” offers visitors a chance to complement their beach holidays with some history. —J.V.
