Georgia Dymock: Under Our Together

Mar 11 – Apr 9, 2022
30 Davies Street, Mayfair, London W1K 4NB

Just 23 years old, the British artist Georgia Dymock is still a student at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, finishing her M.F.A. in painting. For her first solo exhibition, she’s painted 12 works that feature her signature figures, which channel Surrealism, Art Deco, and even, perhaps, Keith Haring. Dymock starts with a hand-drawn sketch, scans it onto Photoshop or Illustrator to digitally alter it, and then uses vibrant oil paints to render the scene on canvas. “I use the versatile nature of oil paint to capture soft, unblemished surfaces that are typical of the digital,” she told Artnet. The work is inspired by Picasso’s neoclassical period as well as contemporary digital art. —Jensen Davis
