When a painting as highly prized as Fra Angelico’s Annunciation is restored, that in itself is grounds for an exhibition. So here it is, the Florentine monk’s Annunciation—its mystical light shining once more—now placed among several of the artist’s own works and over 80 pieces by peers with whom he was in dialogue, sotto voce: Masaccio, Masolino, Filippo Lippi, Donatello and, a real perc in this exhibition, Brunelleschi. —J.V.
