Ten years ago, when the David Chipperfield-designed Museo Jumex opened its doors in New Polanco, people viewed it as one of the most extreme urban reconversion interventions in the city’s recent history. It houses the most important private art collection in Latin America, belonging to Eugenio López, the heir to a huge fruit-juice company. A decade on, to celebrate this milestone anniversary, the museum has invited Lisa Phillips, the director of the New Museum, in New York, to curate an exhibition using works from the collection. She’s chosen a poignant and timely theme—“Everything Gets Lighter.” The exhibition will fill the entire building, and explores the healing power of light during dark times. —Elena Clavarino
