Early in the pandemic, Jesse Prado started Hella as an unconventional way to bring people together. Now in its tenth iteration, the reading series is presenting mostly prose writers. Bud Smith is one such reader. Smith is a writer and union construction worker whose novel Teenager comes out this May from Vintage. The writer Shy Watson, who now lives in Montana and has been featured at Hella several times, will read her inventive fiction. Look forward to an evening of mind expanding prose at Mood Ring, a queer nightclub in Bushwick, which serves astrology-themed cocktails as well as non-alcoholic libations. —Sophie Kemp
