For abstract artists Ed Clark (1926–2019) and Stanley Whitney (born in 1946) color is energy. Clark was known for working on shaped canvases, and he sometimes pushed paint in seductive swaths with brooms. Whitney creates grids of multi-hued blocks, loosely geometrical visions inspired by his travels and love for jazz. This exhibition presents watercolors and dry pigment works on paper by both men.
