Dustin Yellin is known for huge glass sculptures made of minute images—pictures cut from all kinds of sources (with cuticle scissors one imagines—and laid on large glass slides that are then fused together. The result is a crystal realm of caverns and recesses, holographic and dimensional. But Yellin is also a painter, and this exhibition showcases a series of collage-and-acrylic works on canvas. The mysteries of earth, especially the primal draw of caves, are Yellin’s subject here, and the pieces are magical. Looking at Gushette (2023), I couldn’t help thinking of that fabulous 1959 film of Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth, with color by De Luxe. —Laura Jacobs
