Do Ho Suh

Dec 3, 2020 – Feb 20, 2021
1 Cromwell Place, South Kensington, SW7 2JE London

“I see life as a passageway, with no fixed beginning or destination,” the Korean artist Do Ho Suh said in 2017. “We tend to focus on the destination all the time and forget about the in-between spaces.” With sheets of colorful, transparent polyester placed upon fine steel frames, Suh recreates those transitory spaces, places he once called home—or spaces within the home—in Seoul, Providence, London, and Berlin. In this exhibition, the work Hub-1, Entrance, 296-8, Sungbook-Dong, Sungboo-Ku, Seoul, Korea (2018)—a striking one-to-one scale reproduction of the entrance to his Seoul apartment—is on display. —E.C.
