In her band Deer Scout, Dena Miller writes quiet folk songs of huge emotional resonance. The daughter of two folk musicians, Miller’s debut album, Woodpecker, chronicles six years of her life—from her freshman year of college in Philadelphia to her postgrad journeys in Brooklyn. Alongside her bandmates, Miller will take the stage at Rubalad, an arts space in Bushwick that features giant playful sculptures and a large garden. —Sophie Kemp
