Criss Cross: Highsmith & Zaillian On Screen

Mar 29 – Apr 4, 2024

Only a very talented writer could have made the talents of Tom Ripley likable. He cons, he kills, and he always gets his way. Meanwhile, we root for him. That’s the genius of Patricia Highsmith. Her psychological thrillers force readers to question their allegiances, a dynamic that translates effectively to the screen. Ahead of the forthcoming Netflix series Ripley, the Paris Theater is hosting a series that features the many films adapted from Highsmith’s novels—be sure not to miss the Hitchcock classic Strangers on a Train. Ripley is directed by Steven Zaillian; so to complete the program, works directed or written by Zaillian will pair with Highsmith’s.
