Directed by Alice Winocour and set during Paris Fashion Week, Couture takes the American filmmaker Maxine (Angelina Jolie) to the French capital, where she’s going to direct a short film for a major fashion house. As she prepares the project, Maxine is diagnosed with breast cancer, forcing her to confront difficult choices about her future. Along the way, she meets Ada, a young South Sudanese woman newly launched into the modeling world, and Angèle, a makeup artist working behind the scenes of the runway spectacle. As their paths intersect over the course of the week, the three women form an unlikely connection. —Carolina de Armas
