Color. Theory. & (b/w)

May 1 – June 20, 2020
1001 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34236, United States

For artists, color theory is foundational. Students are taught the color wheel, and then learn about the way the meeting of certain colors can alter perception. In this ongoing investigation into the art and science of color, the first installation includes works by Robert Barber, Peter Alexander, Pino Pascali, Tony Feher, and more. “I’ve often thought color and texture and form are inextricably linked,” says Sheila Hicks in a video interview. “It all happens in one swoop of a concept that ignites an idea. And it ignites in a way that it all happens at the same time.” —E.C.
