“I saw art in life and life as art. I couldn’t separate one from another,” said the multidisciplinary artist Kimsooja in 2008. Born in Daegu, South Korea, in 1957, she has since traveled the world to take up residencies at Cornell University (Ithaca, New York), the Center for Contemporary Art (Kitakyushu, Japan), and the Humboldt Forum (Berlin, Germany), to name a few. With “To Breathe—Constellation,” Kimsooja has taken her idea of “art in life and life as art” to the Bourse de Commerce–Pinault Collection. She’s covered the rotunda floor with mirrors that pull the viewer into the artwork itself—a life-size mobius strip of ivory architecture. Display cases that surround the area feature small spherical objects and installations by Kimsooja, including what she calls “moon jars.” —Zack Hauptman
