In 1559, Pieter Brueghel the Elder was accepted into the Antwerp painters’ guild. He would change the course of 16th- and 17th-century art in that region. His son, Pieter Brueghel the Younger, would join the guild in the years before his father died, in 1569, and eventually so would his sons Jan Brueghel II and Ambrosius Brueghel, and their sons after them. This exhibition brings 80 paintings by five generations of Brueghels together for the first time. Expect to see wedding celebrations, proverbs, Biblical stories, and awesome landscapes. —Elena Clavarino
