A literary festival located in the birthplace of Chinua Achebe (Things Fall Apart) and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (Americanah), the Lagos Book and Art Festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. It’s a week of author panels, reading sessions, live music, drama, dance, and poetry performances, plus workshops on painting, crafts, and writing. This festival welcomes the young, and each year hosts over 2,000 children and young adults. —J.V.
