Artist Spotlight

Streaming on Gagosian

It started out as a way of promoting artists whose exhibitions ran smack into the coronavirus. Gagosian’s Artist Spotlight series, which highlighted a different artist each week, concluded its run with the sale of Jenny Saville’s newest painting just as its galleries started to reopen. Now the series is back for a second “season” in the digital sphere, independent of Gagosian’s reviving exhibition program. This is good news for anyone who can’t get to a gallery. Following the spring sales of work by Saville, Damien Hirst, and Urs Fischer, the second season features art by Nathaniel Mary Quinn, Ed Ruscha, Rachel Whiteread, Takashi Murakami, and John Currin. —J.V.
