Basel is back! The fair returns to the Herzog & de Meuron-designed Messe Basel for its 53rd edition, but with major leadership changes. Marc Spiegler, the former global director of the brand, stepped down in November 2022, and Mike Cruse, the former head of Berlin Gallery Weekend, stepped up. Despite the commotion, Messe is playing host to its usual fleet of 284 exhibitors—including the newcomers Empty Gallery, from Hong Kong, and Soft Opening, from London—and 4,000 artists representing five continents.
