It isn’t every day that an institution wrangles 70 designers from across the Middle East and North Africa into the same gallery space. Though the feat seemed impossible, the founder of Amman Design Week, curator Rana Beiruti, is mounting the largest Arab contemporary design survey in history. The focus? How contemporary designers are digging into the Middle East’s rich cultural heritage. There will be 38 commissioned works on view, and an up-to-the-minute sustainable design section. —Elena Clavarino
