The New York Times calls Annie Hamilton “Cinderella by way of Cassavetes.” You might not know Hamilton by name, but you’ve certainly seen her in bit parts over the last decade. She’s funny and frank, and she documents her life obsessively on Instagram and Twitter, often narrating events in short videos that have a picaresque Dickensian quality (that is, if the street urchins of Dickens wore Jane Birkin-style frocks and lots of lipliner). Hamilton will begin her one-a-month live show at the Jane Hotel, a series produced by the curator and critic Aria Dean. —Sophie Kemp
