In the 1970s, Andy Warhol collaborated with Peter Beard on a 27-page collage called Introduction to the Things of Life. Warhol referred to Beard’s diaries as “trip books,” and the pair hung out and partied together. Francis Bacon was also fascinated by Beard, and painted at least eight portraits and three triptychs of the photographer, who in turn, photographed the painter. In this large display of Warhol’s work—which includes over 250 pieces from museum collections around the world—a special section examines Warhol and Bacon’s mutual adoration of Beard. The show took five years to put together. —Elena Clavarino
