The American Academy in Rome (A.A.R.) is celebrating its many years of art innovation and research—over 125—in New York City. The festivities, co-chaired by the architects and A.A.R. trustees Slobodan Randjelović and Calvin Tsao, will take place under the neo-Renaissance-inspired dome of Cipriani 25. This gala honors three individuals—the president of Spelman College, Mary Schmidt Campbell; the playwright and screenwriter John Guare; and the abstract painter Julie Mehretu. For dinner, dessert, and dancing, individual tickets start at $1,500 and tables run up to $100,000. The night’s proceeds—including those from the evening’s auction, which offers experience packages and art—will go to the A.A.R. —J.D.
