Examining the impact of an aging mind on the family circle, A Tupperware of Ashes drops in on Queenie (Meera Syal), a formidable Michelin-star chef, and her three children Raj, Gopal, and Kamala. It doesn’t take long for the children to notice that Queenie’s memory is beginning to fail. They must reconcile their love for their mother with an impossible new reality. The play is the second collaboration between the writer Tanika Gupta and the director Pooja Ghai; their first was 2023’s critically acclaimed The Empress. A Tupperware of Ashes draws upon the Indian cycle of death and rebirth to explore filial duty. —Alice Browne
