I’m aware that Valentine’s Day is getting near, not because I have big plans (oops, better get on that) but because my in-box is bursting with reminders from the beauty publicists of America. They have ideas. And they would like to share them helpfully for my Valentine’s or Galentine’s gift guides.
Who knew that so many things could be wrapped in heart-printed paper? How about these suggestions that actually arrived in my in-box: a bamboo flosser, a foot cream, a device that removes facial hair, a device that unclogs pores? How would you feel on February 14, unwrapping a jar of colostrum? Just a little floss and colostrum to warm a cold night.
Some publicists would also like to offer story ideas. Here’s one: The Dermatologist’s Guide to Kiss-Proof Lips. What, I wonder, are kiss-proof lips? Are they lips that can’t be kissed? Or, when kissed, don’t burst or melt or spontaneously combust? (Can you tell I binge-watched The Beauty?)
There are lots of different ways to love on Valentine’s Day. A relationship expert is available for tips on how to love yourself. A dermatologist can address how to love your hair. And here’s a suggestion that’s “just in time for date night and Galentine’s plans” for “a glow-up that feels effortless”: liposuction. I promise I’m not making this up. A cosmetic surgeon offers a technique with an especially speedy recovery just in time for the holiday.
With that, I give you my liposuction-free, kiss-positive Valentine’s Day gift guide.
