Louis Vuitton: Perfumes of the World, Journey to China
Louis Vuitton, the man, started as a maker of glamorous, durable trunks. That spirit is the inspiration behind the house’s Perfumes of the World collection, which has drawn from the Middle East and California. Now it’s venturing to China. Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, the house’s master perfumer, worked with his daughter, Camille, on three scents that plumb the country’s traditions and materials. Tea Storm combines Chinese tea with a rose from Grasse for an energetic scent in a gorgeous Marc Newson–designed celadon bottle with a pink stopper. Ink Mark actually smells like ink, along with creamy sandalwood and incense, and is housed in a white bottle with a violet stopper. The cyan-and-orange bottle of Moon Tale hints at the raspberry, peony, and geranium scent inside—with musk to bring it down to earth. They’re ideal for the armchair traveler. ($360, louisvuitton.com)

Tome: Foundational Treatment
I love a strange skin-care product, and the one I tried recently is right up there. I have to say, I’m crazy about it. Have you heard of spicules? They’re small rods made of silica, harvested from freshwater sponges. They pierce the skin like micro-needles, kicking up collagen production and allowing the ingredients in the serum of your choice to travel beneath the surface. Tome’s Foundational Treatment is a four-week kit that includes a powder and an activator, which you mix together and massage on your face gently (oops). After about 15 minutes, you rinse it off and apply whatever active ingredient suits your fancy. It stings a bit, but I went a little overboard with the massage—that’s also why I ended up with a flaming-red face for a few days. After 72 hours, my skin started peeling, which was a little awkward, but when that subsided, my face was clearer and softer than it had been since my last Fraxel laser. ($178, tomeskincare.com )
