YSL Beauty: Libre Santal Couture
Yves Saint Laurent, the man, always had a thing for androgyny, as evidenced by “le smoking,” the tuxedo he translated from a man’s closet to a woman’s body. That tension made it a sexy bit of provocation, fit for a Helmut Newton photograph. The YSL Libre fragrance played on that idea to great success when it launched in 2019. Now, with Libre Santal Couture, the newest addition to the collection, master perfumers Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaïm mix sandalwood with the original orange blossom and lavender to subvert notions of masculine and feminine.
