Back in the day, when she was blasting eardrums downtown and had been knighted—or nighted—Manhattan’s “punk ballerina,” Karole Armitage was not all that exploratory a choreographer. But she became so, shrugging off celebrity trappings to work quietly, steadily, intelligently, and poetically. This month, her company Armitage Gone! Dance comes to New York Live Arts with a program of works inspired by film—think Visconti, Rossellini. There’s also a fashion dance at the end called Marc Jacobs.
