Events were plentiful, from the opening of Penn & Fashion at the Maison Europeenne de la Photographie, to Celine Dion’s triumphant Paris residency, which offered a respite from the relentless show schedule. We keep coming back to this word “commercial” (it’s earned a negative connotation these past few years), but the collections rounding out the end of the week in Paris offered up clothes that were both wearable and desirable—an important reminder that being commercial can also be compelling, if done right.

If there’s one single item all the editors have on their shopping list right now, it’s the skirt—thanks to Mrs. Prada—which appeared later in the week in plenty of iterations at Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and countless others. Bra tops, boundless exposed midriffs, fluid silhouettes, and statement shoes also dominated.
