Thomas Burberry once said, “There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.” One imagines he had his native Londontown in mind, with its dewy mornings and foggy nights. But could he have imagined that, 170 years later, across the pond on an unseasonably warm and unbearably humid autumn day, his clothing would serve New Yorkers just as well?

Such was the case for DRESS CODE editor Rickie De Sole, who, wearing Burberry’s new Faille Clare trench jacket, hosted a party at the AIR MAIL Newsstand on Hudson Street to celebrate the British house’s 170th anniversary and the publication of its 170: The Anniversary Portraits. Jon Neidich, the man behind the Nines, Le Dive, and a host of other hip city haunts, was the first to arrive. Photographer Sophie Elgort (daughter of Arthur) was among the last, though the honor of very last went to Clemente Tivioli—in true Italian fashion, certamente.
