Imagine a realm outside of time and space, a place where reality collapses against the wonderment of a boundless universe. The widely revered Infinity Mirror Rooms of Yayoi Kusama offer a portal into an otherwise inaccessible cosmic existence. “The same things piled on top of one another create an expanding world that reaches out to the edges of the universe,” says Kusama, whose tools are pattern, repetition, and whimsy. In Montreal, the latest addition to the Infinity Mirror Rooms series consists of a dark room permeated by suspended orbs of flickering light, endlessly refracted. —Nyla Gilstrap
