Though the quality of artwork should never—shock, horror—be determined by its size, there is undeniable allure to the massive, the looming, the XXL! How did the thing get there? How did the artist create it? Channeling its artists’ biggest (literally) creations, Galleria Continua dedicates a virtual show to these installations and paintings, unveiling a new work each week. The most recent was Antony Gormley’s Lost Horizon II (2017), a futuristic forest made from 21 kilometers of silvery silk-wrapped bungee. Most pieces were created on commission, for an event, or conceived for huge spaces. —E.C.
